The products produced for the competition must be finished inventions.
The invention must be of the applicant/applicants.
Applicant should be a Sri Lankan.
The applicant can be competing as individuals or as a team.
One applicant or a team can come up with any number of innovations or inventions, but should submit separate applications for each invention.
The invention must lead for a positive change of a mankind & the nature, not for a negative change of those.
Competition will be held under seven categories:
Industrial Applications
House hold Applications
Energy Applications
Agricultural Applications
Electronic & Electrical Applications
Bio & Chemical Applications
General category
Applicants have to specify in the application the category to which the invention is competing. Failure to do so will result in organizers assuming to be competing in the General Category.
If there are no sufficient applications for any category determined by the organizing committee, then the particular category will be cancelled & applications will be forwarded to General Category. However this rule does not apply to General Category.
Registration should be done on or before 18th October 2009.
Registration can be done by posting a duly filled application to the organizing committee, InnoMech 2009, Department of Mechanical Engineering, University of Moratuwa, or online on www.innomech.lk.
Application can be obtained by downloading from the above website, through the print media sponsor of InnoMech 2009 (Diwaina, The Island) or obtained by sending a self addressed stamped envelope to above mentioned address on or after 11th September 2009.
The competition will be held in two stages, i.e. preliminary & final stage.
Inventor/Inventors must be present at the time of evaluations. Failure to do so will disqualify from being in the competition.
Preliminary evaluations of the competition will be held provincially and the deserving will be qualified to take part in the final stage.
Winners of the preliminary evaluations will not be rewarded in anyway.
Date & venue for evaluations will be informed to competitors by post and/or through national news papers.
Selected finalists shall be informed by post and/or announced through national news papers.
Final evaluations will be held during the exhibition.
Failure to participate in the exhibition will disqualify from participating in the competition.
The school applications must certify their products by the principal of the school.
The organizers are only responsible to provide a place and power supply for the products if need, although the organizers are ready to help the competitors during the competition at all without favoring.
Competitors have to arrange transportation to in and out of venues of preliminary evaluation and exhibition.
The competitors are responsible for the protection of their products and preventing accidents from the products during the competition and exhibition. Organizers will not be liable for any damages that shall be caused to the invention of the applicant or others.
The panel of judges will be appointed by the Department of Mechanical Engineering, University of Moratuwa.
Decision of the panels of judges shall be final & shall not be questioned for any reason what so ever.
The winners will be awarded with a certificate & a medal and subsequent industry related training.
If any party is claiming Intellectual Property rights over such invention submitted for the competition with sufficient proof such inventions shall be removed from the competition.
The Intellectual Property rights of invention will remain property of the inventor.
In any misinterpretation of rules & regulations, the English version will be considered as final.
